Midday An Ekphrasis Sonnet The path is clearest in the midday light. All things are revealed in starkest contrast. The midday summer sun is the harshest. Singing the leaves in a desert dry wind. As we seek shade wherever we find it. The sky is a silver-white diffused glow, Where the Holy Spirit of God hovers, Revealing the darkest corners of sin, Those things we each try to hide from His sight. The suns warmth invites me to reflect On the things in life that matter the most, Those small moments when life is tangible When I knowingly radiate Gods' beauty. Why speak so much of sunrise and sunset, They are both dismal in comparison, At its' zenith the sun rules the heavens, Illuminate gem shining brilliantly. A gentle breeze blows carrying to me, The distracting sounds of this troubled world, I long to rest in the shade of langur, But heed the call to witness of Gods' grace. Calling to something deep inside of you, Can you feel Gods' gentle voice shouting out? Or sense the burning within your body, Join me as we bring light to a dark world. MJ Flack
